Powercar jr. "Scotty Special"

Postby Scott b. » Fri Jan 20, 2012 5:30 pm

This week I bought a what I believe is (an aptly named) a late 50's Powercar Jr. "Scotty Special" attached is an ad courtesy or Lee's Roadkillontheweb.com site. I would guess these cars were for the people who didnt have has a rich uncle; LOL!!! As light weight as they are I am sure they didnt survive very long.

One difference is the ad stated it has a "polyproplene body" where as these have what appears to be a sheetmetal body, probably a latter production change.

In the deal I got one working car, and 4-5 cars worth of parts. Looks like the fwd/rev "shifter" may be the same as the 1/4 scales?

Backstory: The guy I bought them from, bought them from a guy who had a disabled son, as the motor would burn out he would buy another one.

This little cart doesnt have the same flair as the our Juniors but was still a part of the Powercar Company's history, and was priced reasonable enough to save it.

I want to thank Rodster (CTO) for his assistance in picking up the kart for me when he sends me more pics I will post an update.

Some assembly Req'd

These are the spare bodies one semi assembled, the former owner believes that there are 4-5 complete karts in these boxes (oh, my wife thought that not only was the cart aptly named, but that the boxes the parts were aptly named for me as well!!!)

Yeah I would love the fiberglass tank on a the motorized powercar, instead of pedalling.

+1

Never even knew they existed! Looking forward to seeing one in person very soon. ;)

I'm thinking it must be some kind of omen and Scotty Specials will soon rule the world!

Good find my friend... and a great item to save to help document the history of Power Cars.
